AGMUS Institute of Mathematics

Introduction 

The AGMUS Institute of Mathematics is an educational NSF Grant: DMS-0822404 for $2.1 Million grant (2008-2013). Dr. Juan F. Arratia was the Director and Principal Investigator of the grant in partnership with Dr. Carlos Castillo from Arizona State University.

Objectives

Since UMET did not have a BS degree in Mathematics in 2008.  The objective of the grant was to implement a BS degree in BioMathematics. In addition to the design of the BS degree in BioMathematics the grant offer support for the implementation of a Saturday Research Academy in BioMathematics, Summer Research Program in BioMathematics in US research institutions and abroad, as well as a full scholarship program for BioMathematics majors.
