UNICA-Puerto Rico Alliance

Introduction 

UNICA Puerto Rico Alliance was a grant funded by the US Department of State-Partners of the Americas. Dr. Juan F. Arratia was the Director of the grant in partnership with colleagues from Universidad Catolica de Nicaragua and research mentors from UMET and University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez.

Objectives 

UNICA Puerto Rico Alliance was designed to implement a summer research program (June and July 2015), for  five undergraduates from Universidad Catolica de Nicaragua at the research facilities of UMET and University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez (UPRM) in Puerto Rico.  Dr. Osvaldo Cox, a research mentor at UMET mentored Mariana Vargas, and Laura Zambrano, and Dr. Samuel Hernandez at UPRM mentored Fernanda Mejia, Celia Rodriguez and Dayana Cuadra.
